On his final day managing the Los Angeles Dodgers, Joe Torre went old school. He wrote out the lineup card Sunday, just as he did 29 years earlier on his first day managing the New York Mets, instead of typing it on the computer.
Torre said he is retiring from managing, but “I don’t think I ever want to shut down.”
Joe Torre ended his managerial career the way it began 29 years ago — with a victory. With Yankees manager Joe Torre's job being called into question now, I dug up this old news report from WABC Channel 7 in New York from when Torre and his entire coaching staff was fired from the New York Mets in 1981. Also has the early 80s commercials in between and fan comments towards the end (one fan wants Billy Martin to come in and manage the Mets, lol). Staying or going, Joe Torre is guaranteed a place in Cooperstown and Yankee Stadium's Monument Park.

The managers. Joe’s last season. A little sad…It’s been a good, but short run.
